Research Travel Grant

Overview

The University Libraries of UNCG offers one research travel grant per year to support the work of a researcher who utilizes the holdings of the Martha Blakeney Hodges Special Collections and University Archives. Collections include rare books, manuscripts, women’s literature, cello music, University archives, and Betty Carter Women Veterans Historical Project. To learn more about UNCG’s holdings, please refer to the Collecting Areas section of our homepage. The research travel grant ($1750) is intended to pay for travel and lodging costs associated with a research trip to Greensboro, NC.

Graduate students, post-docs, teaching faculty, and independent scholars are encouraged to submit a grant application. Applicants must live outside of the North Carolina Piedmont area to be eligible. They also must have a clear research plan that involves the on-site use of UNCG’s Special Collections and University Archives.

Application Process

Applicants should complete the Research Grant Application Form. The completed application and two letters of recommendation should be sent to Kathelene McCarty Smith, Interim Department Head of Special Collections and University Archives at UNCG.
