The first issue of UNCG Magazine was published in the fall, after the UNCG Graduate and The Alumni News merged under a single publication.

The Second Century Campaign raised $55,403,372.

The Women Veterans Historical Project, which documents the experience of women in the United States armed forces, was established by the University Archives & Manuscripts department in Jackson Library. In 2006, the project was named for University Archivist Betty H. Carter.
