Demolition of Walker Avenue The Soda Shop

The City of Greensboro closed Walker Avenue from McIver Street to Forest Street. This was done in order to make way for new campus construction, namely the new Library (now Jackson Library) and Home Economics Building (now Stone Building).

The Soda Shop (now the Faculty Center) opened.

A Social Science Forum was established in honor of Dean Harriet Elliott.

The Golden Chain Honor Society was organized to recognize students for their outstanding efforts and accomplishments in leadership, scholarship and service to the campus and community.

The Curry Home Economics Cottage opened on the Curry School grounds. It was used by Curry High School home economics students, as well as Woman's College home economics majors.
