<head>Historical Note</head>
<p>The A<corpname>ssociation of Southern Agricultural Workers</corpname> was founded in 1899. In 1973 the name was changed to <corpname>Southern Association of Agricultural Scientists</corpname>. The association's purpose is to promote scientific agriculture in the American South. Membership includes workers, educators, and government or commercial employees who devote time to agricultural development. The association is comprised of a number of sections, including Agricultural Economics, Forestry, and Marketing, and holds an annual convention every February.

<head>Collection Overview</head>
<p>The Association of Southern Agricultural Workers Records date from 1927 to 1972 and include <genreform>minutes,</genreform>  <genreform>financial statements,</genreform> <genreform>attendance records,</genreform> <genreform>clippings,</genreform> <genreform>speeches,</genreform> and <genreform>programs</genreform> of annual meetings of the Home Economics Section (now called Food Science and Technology Section). The programs list names of officers for the association and for each section, as well as names of speakers and titles of their speeches.
