Electronic Journals - Help

What is an electronic journal?

Electronic serials may be defined very broadly as any journal, magazine, e'zine, webzine, ejournal, newsletter or type of electronic serial publication which is available over the Internet. Jackson Library's ejournal site strives to provide access to as many scholarly full-text electronic journals as possible.

How to use these pages

This site is not meant to take the place of searchable online periodical databases. When performing research you may be best served by searching first in one of our periodical databases, then searching or browsing this site to see whether we provide online access to the full-text of a particular title.

Finding full-text electronic journals

Please note: It is possible that journal titles and/or dates of inclusion listed are inaccurate. Although we make every effort to maintain the accuracy of our holdings, information accessed through the WWW can change without notice.

Viewing full-text electronic journals

A number of our electronic journals do not originate from their own free-standing WWW site, but rather comprise the full-text holdings of various online databases. When this occurs, we provide a preliminary "how-to" page that explains in detail how to locate a particular journal title, by date, found within a given database (see example).

Also, many journals offer their content in formats other than HTML or plain text. If you find that a journal requires that you install a special plug-in or helper application to view a journal, there may be a link from the journal's WWW site to a page from which you can download the appropriate software. We also provide this list of browser plug-ins and helper applications to help you identify what software you need and where to get it.

Suggestions/Help

Use our Online Journals Evaluation Form to let us know what you think of the journals and services that we've selected and to suggest other journals us to include. You may also send email or call 334-4238 should you have comments, queries, or suggestions.
