Full Text: Dearest Mother & Daddy,
I’m still on duty, but thought I would go ahead & start since I’m not busy on the ward. I was off from 12-3:30 & it’s about 5:15 now. I’ve just finished supper.
Haven’t had any mail from you all since Thursday (the 2nd), but honestly, the mail situation has been terrible for the past couple of weeks. No packages at all have come in.
I had another newspaper from Jewell, the one from the Central Methodist Church, & also a note from her, & a nice little card from “Mamma”. Tell her I appreciated it so much.
Tomorrow we might go on another boat trip if it doesn’t rain. Hope it doesn’t. I’m off at 12:30, but I plan to go to Church in my duty hours tomorrow morning.
Right now, it looks like it might rain, & I hope it does. Be a relief from the heat. We haven’t had any rain in about 10 days, & the heat has been terrific.
How is Uncle Bob? Hope he’s taking it easy. Did Annie Grace have a nice trip to N.Y. or was she too busy to enjoy it?
Heard over the radio about the plane crashing into the Empire State Building. That was terrible.
There’s not much news. I’m finding it hard to think of something to write about. I’m feeling fine. I’ll be writing again in a couple of days.
Lots of love,
