Full Text: Dearest Mother & Daddy,

I’ve just finished writing to Louis, so thought I would try to get a letter written to you all before I go back on duty. I’m off from 12-3:30 & it’s about 2:15 now.

To-day I had a letter from you all written June 26th. Aunt Esther had also sent me a clipping about Susie Kate Pounds. You were asking me when Louis came in the Army. He came in Jan. 16th, 1941. quite a while ago, eh?

6:30 P.M. Guess I had better finish this before I go off duty. I didn’t get it finished before I came back on, & I’m going to a party at the Navy Club tonight with one of the other girls. I had really planned to stay home to-night, but there are so few places we have to go, when we get a chance we go. I don’t think Louis would mind do you? He knows none of these “jokers” over here mean anything to me. But honestly we just have to get out & have some recreation, or we would go “nuts”. Just to get out & get away from the hospital & the war that we live day after day. Sunday 6:30 P.M

Well, I’m finally back to my letter, & so I started it off with an awful mess. But just take it for a little spot of love.

This morning I slept until about 10:00. We had a nice time at the party last night, & to-day we went back to the same place. We had a grand dinner & then came back & went on duty at 12:30. I had ice cream for the second time since coming here, & also fresh orange juice & real potatoes.

There isn’t much other news so before I start another day on this I’ll say so long. I had another grand letter from Louis to-day.

Lots of love, Annie Edith
