Jane Hydes Conner Council (1922-2010) served in the WAAC and WAC from 1943 to 1945.
BIOGRAPHY
Jane Hydes Conncer Council was born and raised in Pennington, New Jersey. She worked in airplane factory and for Hopewell and volunteered with the USO before enlisting in the WAAC in the summer of 1943. She was sent to Fort Devens, Massachusetts, and then to Daytona Beach, Florida, for basic training. She then attended motor corps training at Ormond Beach. Council was then sent to Fort Belvoir, Virginia, where she remained until her discharge in summer 1945. In February 1945, she married, and the couple later settled in Madison, Georgia.
