Margaret Winston Henry of Springdale, West Virginia, served in the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service—U.S. Navy) as a storekeeper during World War II. She served in Philadelphia and was lodged at the Benjamin Franklin Hotel.
ADDITIONAL CONTENTS:
58 letters and one greeting card, dated May to December, 1944. They are love letters sent by Henry to Pharmacy Mate Dallas S. Chambers at the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. The letters focus primarily on Henry's and Chamber's relationship but also discuss other WAVES, her work and social life.
