Fodie M. Buie of Robeson County, North Carolina, attended the North Carolina State Normal and Industrial College in 1893. She served as Dr. Charles McIver's secretary until 1898 when she was hired by the National Museum in Washington, D.C., as a stenographer. After six months probation she was promoted to the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.

Scrapbook contains photographs and newspapers clippings.

“Reports of Conductors of County Institutes in North Carolina” is a pamphlet of reports written from 1889 - 1890 by the administrators of the Teacher Institutes which were designed to educate persons in North Carolina counties in the teaching profession, prior to the establishment of the State Normal and Industrial School. These reports all addressed to S. N. Finger the N. C. Superintendent of Public Instruction are by Edwin A. Alderman, Charles Duncan McIver, J. Y. Joyner, M. C. S. Noble, Alex Graham, E. P. Moses, E. Handwritten draft of a report given by the visiting committee to the the Board of Trustees of the University of North Carolina in 1890. The report comments on the many sucessful improvements mad to the university with better equipments and facilities and overall conduct of the student body. Topics include the Philanthropic and Dialectic Society, recommendations for the Bible to be taught as an elective, new equipment in all departments, a recommendation to appoint of a Dr. T.H.
