Biographical/Historical note: Ima Edwards was raised outside Elkin, North Carolina. She later moved to Greensboro and worked briefly for Sears before beginning work as a waitress at Woolworth's in February 1953. She remained at Woolworth for several decades, serving as head of the bakery and then as counter manager. Edwards later worked briefly for Northeast.
