This October 12, 1961 article in the Guilford College student newspaper, The Guilfordian, announces a meeting being put together by students in the fall of 1961 that would focus on the issue of integration at Guilford College. The stated purpose of the meeting was as an opportunity to “debate to emphasize the relevance of the pressing problems of segregation in hopes of encouraging a definite policy on the matter to be adopted by the school.”
