Biographical/Historical abstract: The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, founded in 1920, is a coeducational public university in the University of North Carolina system.

Description: The 1977 yearbook of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Pine Needles, depicts a growing African American student population that appears to be somewhat integrated into general school activities such as athletics. There does not seem to be the emphasis on social issues that was present in the 1960s and early 1970s, and there are no photo essays related to student causes or black-centric events. Included are sample pages of candid shots, sports teams, and class portraits showing representative black to white student ratios.
