The Quaker, 1979
Guilford College, a Quaker-supported four-year liberal arts school in Greensboro, N.C., was chartered in 1834 and opened in 1837 as New Garden Boarding School.
The 1979 Guilford College yearbook, The Quaker, shows several areas of integration at the school. Included are photos of Janice, an African American group that performed at homecoming, and a black and white woman embracing at Serendipity. Also included are portraits of African American faculty and staff, integrated sports teams and student organizations, and candid photos from campus life.
