Biographical/Historical abstract: Guilford College, a Quaker-supported four-year liberal arts school in Greensboro, N.C., was chartered in 1834 and opened in 1837 as New Garden Boarding School.

Description: The 1966 Guilford College yearbook, The Quaker, highlights the involvement of African American students, seniors James McCorkle and Linda Moore and freshman Gertrude Judd of Greensboro. Featured is a candid photo of a white student tutoring local African American children. Also included is a photo of African American singing group The Platters performing at the school's homecoming.
