James Sharbrough Ferguson served as chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro from 1967 to 1979.
This February 18, 1971 letter from UNCG Chancellor James S. Ferguson is in response to the Neo-Black Society's request and petition for the university to create a black student lounge. Ferguson's response is to set up meeting for further discussion.
