This January 14, 1955 article in the Guilford College student newspaper, The Guilfordian, highlights an individual international student, Buyong Yoon Park, of Soul, Korea, and reflect's the college's reputation as a welcoming place for international students. Park had been able to defer military service during the war due to his status as a student, and after hearing about Guilford College from an American solider, he decided to continue his studies in the United States.
