James Sharbrough Ferguson served as chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro from 1967 to 1979.
This February 18, 1971 letter from UNCG Chancellor James S. Ferguson to the coordinators of the school's Neo-Black Society responds to the group's petition for a Black Student Lounge on campus. Ferguson suggests that members of the Neo-Black Society meet with administrators to discuss the proposal.
