This is a photograph of Otis Arnold Singletary, chancellor of Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina (later The University of North Carolina at Greensboro) from 1961 to 1966. Singletary presided over the college during the 1963 civil rights protests in Greensboro and during its transition to a coeducational institution.
