Lovejoy takes a look at the 82 southern colleges and universities that desegregated in the seven years prior to the Brown v. Board of Education decision in 1954. He examines the questions of how the desegregation came about as well as what happened after these school were integrated. As such this research provides a contextual benchmark for college desegregation in Greensboro.
