Sydney Nathans Papers


Collection Description: This collection of papers of Duke History professor Sydney Nathans contains printed materials concerning the 1979 riot in Greensboro, N.C. between Ku Klux Klan and the Communist Workers Party; they were collected by Dr. Nathans and include writings, notes, letters, an official police report, news accounts, protest publications, and term papers. There are also some Socialist and Communist publications, and a small number of letters.

Materials selected for this project include a complete copy of the official report of the Greensboro Police Department regarding the anti-Klan march that left five protestors dead, as well as a few flyers and posters for events following the shootings.
