This illustration of the head of a man is from manuscript 1-35-12 of
Siegfried. The poem is about an aviator in a bomber during World War II. In
the illustration, the man appears to be wearing some kind of helmet,
indicating that the picture may well represent Jarrell's idea of Siegfried.Text
