Welcome to the Cello Music Collections at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. The collections are housed in the Special Collections Division of Jackson Library. There are six collections that are processed and available for use: the Luigi Silva Collection, the Elizabeth Cowling Collection, the Rudolf Matz Collection, the Maurice Eisenberg Collection, János Scholz Collection and the Fritz Magg Collection..

The Luigi Silva Cello Music Collection, Elizabeth Cowling Cello Music Collection, Rudolf Matz Cello Music Collection, and János Scholz Cello Music Collection are cataloged in the OCLC online database. Materials in these collections are searchable through the online catalog of Jackson Library's holdings. Select the links to the left for a biography and a description of each collection. The Silva, Cowling, Matz, Eisenberg, Scholz and Magg Collections have internal finding aids available within the Division, and the Eisenberg, Matz, and Scholz Collections are searchable through this home page. Select Maurice Eisenberg, Rudolf Matz, or János Scholz to the left for a biography, description of the collections and to search the collections. As biographical information about the other cellists, descriptions of their collections, and other databases become available, they will be posted here, so be sure to visit often!

The UNCG Cello Music Collection contains thousands of published and manuscript scores, some recordings, personal correspondence, teaching notes, and other archival materials of interest to cello scholars. A collection-wide comparison of the bowing variations of the Bach Suites is now online.
