Charles M. Adams American Trade Binding Collection

The chronological arrangement of the Charles M. Adams American Trade Binding Collection offers an opportunity to see distinct styles emerge throughout the more than one hundred years spanned by the collection. In 1987 the Friends of the Library Board of Directors gave unanimous approval to name the collection in honor of Charles M. Adams, Librarian Emeritus, in recognition of his many valuable contributions to the Library and the University.

You may search the collection through Jackson Library's online catalog.

The binding shown to the left is The isle of palms, and other poems. Published in 1812, this is an early example of paper over boards.
