  • Provides fulltext market and consumer research reports for many consumer sectors.
  • International in scope, but with emphasis on the U.S. and Europe.
  • Many reports cover market distribution.

euromonitorEuromonitor Global Market Information Database

  • Provides marketing statistics and reports on countries, companies, markets, and consumers from over 200 countries.
  • Particularly strong for the apparel, retailing, food, drink, personal care products, and consumer electronics industries.

Business Insight (Reuters) Business Insights

  • Provides full-text market research, analysis, and forecasts.
  • Covers five industries: e-commerce and technology, consumer goods, energy, finance, and healthcare.

  • Reports are updated three or four times a year.

S&PS&P NetAdvantage

  • Includes the S&P Industry Surveys, which provides analysis, descriptions, and data on 52 industries. Updated twice a year.
  • Also provides over a hundred short Sub-Industry Reviews, and many Global Industry Reports.

  • Many of its market reports can also serve as industry reports.

  • Complex searches, based on any combination of 27 values (location, SIC and NAICS codes, line of business keyword, sales, number of employees, etc.), are possible.
  • Search results can be downloaded.

Corporate AffiliationsCorporate Affiliations

  • Niche database for researching corporate structures on 65,000 parent companies and 135,000 affiliates, subsidiaries, divisions, and outside service firms.
  • But also provides officers and brands.

B. For Public Companies

OsirisOsiris

  • Provides detailed financials and descriptions of 42,000 US and international public companies.
  • Covers product, service, and business lines, sales by continents and product lines, balance sheets, income and cash flow statements, ratios, stock, bond, and earnings information, top shareholders, subsidiaries, board members, senior executives and their salaries, and merger and acquisitions.

Mergent HorizonMergent Horizon (access ends in May 2010)

  • Covers around 6,200 public companies (NYSE, NASDAQ, and AMEX companies) and hundreds of product and service sectors.
  • Provides detailed hypertext product and service hierarchies for each company.
  • Identifies competitors, customers, suppliers, and partners.
  • Provides peer-group, competitive analysis, and merger and acquisition analysis tools.
  • Provides enhanced data for health care, technology, media, and finance companies.
  • Provides FDA Approval Decisions Reports (identifies all biotech and pharmaceutical companies with expected FDA Approvals in the next three months, and reviews all FDA approval decisions from the previous month; also includes a "Biotech Pipeline Risk" report).

S&P NetAdvantage

  • Provides detailed descriptions of most U.S. public companies.
  • Includes detailed "line of business" descriptions, as well as officers.

MarketLineMarketLine Business Information Center

  • Provides 10,000 company profiles (many including a SWOT analysis).
  • Includes some officer information and some biographies.

  • Covers 4.7 million international companies (mostly private).
    • Search results for companies can be sorted, and downloaded into Excel or PDF.
    • Provides detailed profiles of over 15,000 international public companies, including corporate family, brands, financials, competition, strategic initiatives, executive biographies, directors and major shareholders, stock data, and business ratios.
    • Also covers over 5,000 U.S. public companies.
  • Provides the full text of RMA Annual Statement Studies (industry ratios) in PDF format (use the "Industries" section).
  • Provides industry & market reports from Datamonitor, Freedonia, Business Monitor International, and STAT-USA/NTDB Industry Sector Analysis (use the "Industries" section).
