Each annual volume covers one year of productions on Broadway and Off-Broadway. Included are black and white photographs from the productions, a detailed listing of credits and cast (including understudies), a listing of musical numbers (if a musical), a brief summary of the plot, a brief summary of reviews, dates of opening and closing, and number of performances. In addition, there is a listing of professional regional companies, national touring company highlights, and award recipients. Brief biographical information on the season's casts and very brief obituaries of theatre personnel who died during the year conclude the volume, along with an excellent index.

The Playbill Broadway Yearbook.
Similar in purpose and coverage to Theater World, this annual includes far more photographs, including many in color. In addition, it includes fun comments about such things as "Backstage Rituals", "Favorite Moment", etc.
