Guide to Keyword Searching
EBSCOhost Databases
All EBSCOhost databases can be linked together and searched. Use this EBSCO link to search them simultaneously. Simply check the boxes next to the name of the databases you would like to include in your search. You may also search them individually using the links below.
SocIndex with Full Text (SIFT)
- Provides full text for a wide variety of sociological journals, conference papers, and books.
- Comprehensive coverage of a range of sociological topics, including rural-urban sociology, social work, etc.
Business Source Premier
- Primarily a business database, but good coverage of nonprofit issues especially related to management of nonprofits.
Academic Search Premier (EBSCOhost)
- Our biggest interdisciplinary database. Always a good inclusion in your research process.
CSA Databases
Sociological Abstracts
- Provides abstracts of journal articles, books, and conference proceedings on topics like social work and community health.
- Provides only sporadic access full text of articles within the database. To access the full text click the link: Looking_for_the_fulltext_of_this_article?_Tr This link will take you to Journal Finder. You can find your article clicking through the links down to the appropriate volume, edition, and page number.
Social Services Abstracts
- Indexes articles on social work, human services, and community development.
- Provides only sporadic access full text of articles. To access the full text click the link: Looking_for_the_fulltext_of_this_article?_Tr
Other Databases
LexisNexis Academic
- Full text articles from over 7500 journals, magazines, transcripts, newspapers, newsletters, and other sources. Covers news, business, legal, and other types of information. Useful for national and regional/state politics.

Importing citations from a database on the EBSCOhost platform:
Export records directly into EndNote:
- Choose a reference using Add to folder link.
- Choose the Folder link
- Within the Folder, check the box next to each reference and choose Export
- On the next screen, choose Direct Export to EndNote Web then hit the Save button
- If you are logged into EndNote Web already, the EndNote screen will open and import your references automatically. If you are not logged into EndNote Web, it will send you to the log in screen.
- To see your references, click My References and [Unfiled].
- Click a reference title to view the entire entry.
Importing citations from a database on the CSA platform
Search a CSA database and save references to your computer:
- Search your terms.
- Place check mark next to reference(s).
- Hit Save, Print, Email link (above results).
- Hit Save button, PC format to save the file to your disk. Choose notepad if you are prompted.
Import references into an EndNote library
- In EndNote Web, go to Collect and then Import References.
- Browse to your saved file.
- Filter: Select a filter, which would be the name of the database and the platform.
- To: Select a destination location, such as preexisting folder or create a new folder.
- Click Import.
- To see your references, click My References and the folder in which you placed your citations.
- Click a reference title to view the entire entry.
