PsycInfo Guide to articles published in psychology journals 1872 - present.
Search using EBSCOhost, the same software as you use to search CINAHL. The software will work the same, but your results will be different because you are searching psychology literature.
- Type a search: chinese medicine AND depression
- Open a result. The hyperlinked subject headings lead to other articles on this topic.
If there is no PDF or HTML full text link attached to the record, then use the Check for Full Text link to search Journal Finder for the journal.
Practice: Search for alternative medicine and addiction
If you get too many results, use the sidebar links to narrow your subject.
If you don't get enough results
- Use the Thesaurus (top bar) to look for and "explode" subject headings for your topic.
- Consider a broader topic. For instance, instead of searching for visual hallucinations and qigong, search for psychosis and Chinese medicine.

- Culture, Medicine and Psychiatry
- Transcultural Psychiatry
- International Journal of Social Psychiatry
- Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine
PubMed Guide to articles published in biomedical, nursing, nutrition, and other health journals early 1950s - present. Do NOT truncate, that turns off several automatic features in PubMed and might get you fewer results.
- Hit the Limits tab and set Languages to English. Then type a search: depression AND chinese traditional medicine
- Hit hyperlinked author name to see an abstract (if available)
- Notice Related articles link to the right
- Change the drop-down arrow at the top left to Display: Citation
- Notice the MeSH subject headings for this article
To find out if the library owns an article:
- Note the publication information, especially the abbreviated journal title.
- Mouse over the abbreviated journal title to see the full title.
- Open Journal Finder from the library homepage. Type the full journal name to find out if we have a subscription.
- Clicking on the "Online" or "Print" links will lead you to info about our subscriptions, including the range of years (beginning and ending) that our subscription runs.
- Compare the year your article was published to the years of our subscription. Do we have the article?

LexisNexis Academic is a guide to many newspapers (including Raleigh and Greensboro).
- Choose News from the red bar at the top of the window.
- Type a search such this: not guilty by reason of insanity.
- Change date to previous year (or even longer time period).
- To filter through results, use the categories in the sidebar such as Newspapers
- Print and Email buttons are on the top right.
