Library Resources
The University Libraries provide online access to library catalogs, databases,
journals, and Journal Finder. The University Libraries catalog may be used by
anyone, but most of the other resources are subscriptions.
When you click on a subscription resource from off-campus, you will be
asked for your UNCG Novell username and password (the same you use for eSpartan email and Blackboard).
If you have any difficulty logging into these resources, consult the Troubleshooting
Online Access Page.
Catalogs
Databases: useful in identifying articles on your topic.
Journal Finder: useful in finding out whether we have a subscription to
a particular journal. Most of our databases have Journal Finder links next
to article citations. You can also open Journal Finder from the library
homepage and type in the name of a journal.
Journal Finder searches the catalog, databases, and individual journal
subscriptions in order to:
- tell you whether have a journal
- tell you which issues we have (when did our subscription begin? are
we still getting the journal?)
- link you to online full text, if we have it
- link you to the catalog record showing where the print version is
Steps to using Journal Finder:
- Identify the name of the journal, magazine or newspaper.
- Look up that journal name in Journal Finder, or follow the Journal Finder
link from a database
- See if the dates covered by the print or online options match the date
of your article.
- If so, use the provided link to get the article online or write down
the location and call number for the print version
- If we don't have it, try Interlibrary Loan.
So where are these journals?
- Print journals:
- recent issues kept in the periodicals room (to your right after
you enter the library), in alphabetical order by title
- older issues kept in the basement, shelved in call number order,
or in microfilm on the second floor (ask for the film at the Reference
Desk)
Genetic Counseling Subject Guide:
- List of resources recommended for Genetic Counseling
