--Dates of coverage: varies by title but most from late 1990s

--Selective full text for 410 U.S. regional newspapers

     

Greensboro News & Record, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal. These newspaper databases would be particularly useful for local, state, or national coverage of hurricanes and floods.

Government Information

The Library has a number of relevant publications from the Dept. of the Interior, NOAA, the EPA and so on. Many of these are in the online catalog you use to find books. Ask for assistance at the Reference Desk.

Federal website with lots of information about health effects, regulatory actions, and environmental issues as well as links to additional information and publications.

NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources
The DENR is the lead stewardship agency for the preservation and protection of North Carolina's natural resources. The organization administers regulatory programs designed to protect air quality, water quality, and the public's health. The agency's activities range from helping to make sure drinking water is safe to managing state parks and forests for safe and enjoyable outdoor recreation experiences. 

NC Division of Water Quality
Links to information on water quality rules and regulations, groundwater, wetlands restoration, well contamination, fish kills, etc.   

NC Division of Pollution Prevention and Environmental Assistance
This agency's mission is to protect the environment and conserve natural resources by providing technical assistance on the elimination, reduction, reuse and recycling of wastes and pollutants.

Guilford County Forecast
The county-wide plan on land use, environment, and transportation.

City of Greensboro. Environmental Services Department
Information on the landfill, hazardous waste, solid waste, air quality, and recycling.

City of Greensboro. Water Resources
Links to information on storm water management, water supply and conservation, and the Randleman Dam.
