Provides indexing and abstracting of articles in several hundred journals in the fields of human communication and mass media, including the fulltext of articles from over 240 journals, including most years of all the journals from the National Communication Association.
PsycInfo, 1872 to date.
Indexes over 2,000 journals in psychology and related disciplines, including most aspects of communication. Also indexed are some books and dissertations. Use this especially for articles on communication theories.
SocIndex with Full Text (SIFT) (EBSCO)
Indexes over 4,000 journals in Sociology and related fields.
ERIC via EBSCO (education research)
Useful for information related to children, adolescents, college students and school or classroom settings.
Hint: be sure to limit to "journal articles (EJ)"
When searching for communication theories or models, click on Advanced Search (tab across the top). Choose "Citation and Document Text" from the drop down menu and type your theory. To limit a search to some of the main/core communication journals, choose Advanced Search from the tabs across the top. Type Communication in one of the boxes and choose Publication Title from the drop-down menu.
