I came to Jackson Library in July 2008 as UNCG’s first ever diversity resident librarian, a position that allows me to gain experience working in several departments of an academic library. This experience will be invaluable as I plan to serve both as a mentor for library school students and as a recruiter for the profession; having a thorough knowledge of different departments will allow me to help students find the career paths in librarianship that are best suited for them.
I am also interested in working closely with individual students, student groups, and the UNCG faculty to develop a library collection and library services that favorably serve the university’s diverse population. Anyone who has suggestions for Jackson Library or wants me to come speak to a student group is encouraged to contact me to schedule a discussion.
After spending my childhood years in Warren County, NC and Richmond, VA, I earned a bachelor’s degree from UNC-Wilmington in 2005 and a Masters in Library Science from North Carolina Central University in 2008. I also have experience working as a newspaper reporter for the Henderson (NC) Daily Dispatch.
I am an active member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.
