Location

The Music Library is located in room 211 (first left after you come in the main entrance) of the School of Music Building. This building is located at the corner of Market and McIver streets - here are directions.

The collections of the Music Library support and enhance the teaching, research and performing activities of UNCG by providing music resources, information, and services required by students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Circulation Policies

Scores and Books:
All UNCG students, staff, and faculty may borrow scores and books from the Music Library. The standard loan period for undergraduate students is three weeks. Graduate students have an extended loan period until the end of the semester. The loan period for Faculty is preset for the end of each academic year. All other patrons have a 3-week loan period.
Recordings:
All UNCG students, staff, and faculty may use LPs, CDs, video discs, videotapes, DATs, and cassettes in the Music Library. These materials may circulate out of the Music Library only by the following exceptions:
  • UNCG Staff and Non-Music Faculty may borrow the above items for a period of 3 weeks.
  • Our collection supports the music curriculum, therefore, UNCG Music Faculty may borrow the material for a longer period of time.
  • All UNCG students may borrow the above items for class presentations. Ask a Library Staff at the Circulation Desk.
Fines:
Overdue fines are $.25 per day per item. There is a grace period of four days. Maximum fine is $10.00 per item.
Reserve overdue fines are $.50 per hour or portion thereof. No maximum limit!
Borrowing privileges for UNCG students are blocked when the amount is $150.00 or more.
At midnight on the day an overdue fine is incurred, overdue fines are automatically sent to the Cashier's Office in Mossman Building. You will need to pay at the Cashier's Office.
Renewals:
Materials may be renewed unless they are needed by another person. You can renew materials at the Circulation Desk or renew materials electronically through the Online Catalog using your UNCG ID number and the 1st 4 digits of your PIN number. Patrons are limite to two electronic renewals per item, after which you must bring the item back to the Circulation Desk for renewals.
Lost/Damaged Fees:
Charges for lost items include a replacement cost plus a non-refundable $5.00 billing fee.
Charges for a damaged item will be assessed on an individual case basis.

There are 24 public computers located in the Music Library with access to the UNCG online catalog and various internet resources. Also the Library offers: 1 Seminar Room, 2 Group Listening Rooms, and 8 Graduate Carrels
