Atlas
- The Map Guide! - an excellent collection of links to maps, atlases, other online geographic resources.
- US Atlas - color landform atlas of the US, related information for states.
- 3datlas - country information (politics, history, etc.), maps (3d available only on CD), geographic glossary.
USGS and DOT
- NEW! - HEPGIS - HEPGIS web site is intended to provide users who don't have their own desktop GIS software with access to transportation-related geo-spatial data using only their web browser. The web site includes simple navigation tools that enable users to locate a specific geographic area of interest, and to create a map showing various geographic features and themes (e.g., income by Census Tract). Users can also obtain specific information about a feature, and can print or save an electronic copy of the map they create. Current geo-spatial databases include: highways, airports, railroads, intermodal terminals, metropolitan planning areas, urban and urbanized areas, federal lands, air quality non-attainment areas, FHWA and State DOT offices, and selected Census geography.
- TopoZone - worked with the USGS to create the Web's first interactive topo map of the United States. USGS 1:100,000, 1:63,360, 1:50,000, 1:30,000, 1:25,000, 1:24,000, and 1:20,000 scale topographic maps for the entire United States. Downloading complete topo maps requires subscription.
Census Bureau
- American FactFinder Maps - displays maps on various themes for the U.S., states, counties, cities, towns, and American Indian reservations.
- Thematic Maps - from 1990 and 2000 Census date, for the nation and states.
- USA Counties - from this site, there is the ability to compile "useful demographic, economic, and governmental information spanning several years and sources for county comparisons and profiles".

- NOAA - historical collection of maps and charts.
- US Geological Survey Library- Materials include USGS publications as well as those produced by state and foreign geological surveys, scientific societies, museums, academic institutions, and government scientific agencies.
