The first site above is the new and more powerful Census access
site which provides integrated data from the 1990 Decennial Census, the
ongoing American Community Survey, the 1997 Economic Census, and the 2000
Decennial Census! Both sites link to a comprehensive Subject
Index of links. This new approach to providing data access is
able to integrate geographic and mapping information directly with the
statistical tables of the various census files. Results can be both graphic
and tabular, and some information is available at the TRACT level. The
third site is a multipurpose North Carolina census site.
Homepage of the Bureau of Census. NEW! - HEPGIS
- HEPGIS web site is intended to provide users who don't have their own
desktop GIS software with access to transportation-related geo-spatial
data using only their web browser. The web site includes simple navigation
tools that enable users to locate a specific geographic area of interest,
and to create a map showing various geographic features and themes
(e.g., income by Census Tract). Users can also obtain specific information
about a feature, and can print or save an electronic copy of the map
they create. Current geo-spatial databases include: highways, airports,
railroads, intermodal terminals, metropolitan planning areas, urban
and urbanized areas, federal lands, air quality non-attainment areas,
FHWA and State DOT offices, and selected Census geography.
The goal of this service is to provide a public resource for generating
