- Arthur M. Sackler Gallery/ Freer Gallery
of Art
The Freer Gallery of Art and the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, which together
form the national museum of Asian Art at the Smithsonian Institution in
Washington, D.C. The galleries are dedicated to exhibiting, collecting,
studying, and preserving the artistic and cultural traditions of the peoples
of Asia.
- Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden
The Smithsonian's museum of international modern and contemporary art. the
Hirshhorn’s permanent collection represents a broad range of art by
artists from around the world, including the United States, Europe, Latin
America and the Caribbean, and Asia.
- National Gallery of Art
The National Gallery of Art houses one of the finest collections in the
world illustrating major achievements in painting, sculpture, decorative
arts, and works on paper from the Middle Ages to the present. More than
5,600 objects from our collection are now available online.
- National Museum of African Art
The National Museum of African Art presents and celebrates the rich visual
traditions and extraordinarily diverse cultures of Africa. The collections
include Africa's sculptures, masks, textiles, furniture, pottery, paintings
and much more.
- Smithsonian American Art
Museum (Formerly known as the National Museum of American Art)
The Smithsonian American Art Museum is dedicated exclusively to the art
and artists of the United States. All regions, cultures, and traditions
are represented in the museum's collections, research resources, exhibitions,
and public programs.
- National Museum of the American
Indian
The National Museum of the American Indian is the first national museum
dedicated to the preservation, study, and exhibition of the life, languages,
literature, history, and arts of Native Americans.
- National Portrait Gallery
The National Portrait Gallery is unique among American museums. It is
equally a museum of history and of art, inviting visitors to reflect on
our country's history through artist's images of those who have contributed
to it.
- Architectural History and Historic
Preservation Division
The Architectural History and Historic Preservation Division is curator
of the Smithsonian's diverse campus of buildings. The division maintains
a collection of archival records related to the Institution's architectural
history, is responsible for preservation of the Smithsonian's historic structures,
many of which are local and national landmarks, and supervising the maintenance
of the Castle Collection of antique furnishings and art objects.
- Smithsonian International Gallery
The International Gallery features changing exhibitions from the Smithsonian's
Traveling Exhibition Service, the National Portrait Gallery, and other Smithsonian
museums.
- Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition Service
SITES specializes in creating three dimensional, full-scale exhibition
"packages" containing objects, photographic images, and interpretive
text. Many exhibitions also include cases, freestanding display units, and
computer and audiovisual equipment.
