  • This publication of UNC's Center for the Study of the American South is an enhanced version of the print edition.

Local Presses

Algonquin Press

  • Founded by famed UNC professor Louis D. Rubin, Jr., this Chapel Hill-based press publishes a good deal of Southern fiction, but does not limit itself, dabbling in almost every field.

Carolina Academic Press

Duke University Press

John F. Blair, Publisher

  • Winston-Salem based publisher of books on the Southeastern United States, particularly North Carolina and Tennessee.

St. Andrews College Press

  • This small but highly reputable press was a favorite of the late North Carolina Poet Laureate, Sam Ragan.

UNC Press

  • The very busy press of the University of North Carolina, which publishes in almost every field.
