Reference Department International Marketing (Marketing 426). Lots of good paper reference sources and a variety of journal and newspaper literature links.

Business and Trade Information site from the Government Documents Dept. Most comprehensive collection of links to statistics and economic information of all types, including TradePort, NTDB, SEC Edgar, UN PC/TAS, all trade classification systems and much more.
International Business and Economic Resources site. Links which primarily involve U.N. and other international sources for trade and marketing statistics and information.
North Carolina Business & Economy site. Links to major statistics and information sources primarily for North Carolina, including the International Trade Division of the North Carolina Dept. of Commerce.

Statistical Information Web Sites and Databases
U.S./State Export Trade Database, from the Global Trade Information Services. Annual commodity exports for the most recent three years, down to the state level and six digit Harmonized Code level, for all nations with which the U.S. has significant trade.
U.N. International Trade Center Databases. International trade statistics by country and commodity, among other excellent resources, free online periodicals and databases. Open product/country grouped Aggregated Trade Statistics, or the same information grouped by country and products. Three digit SITC commodity access.
NTDB - National Trade Data Bank. The National Trade Data Bank is the most comprehensive source for U.S. based international trade statistics, by Harmonized Code, and a huge number of market research reports. The "Country Commercial Guides" provide highly detailed trade information on virtually any nation with which the U.S. has trade relations. Available to UNCG affiliates only.
Tradeport is a useful free site with an International Trade Tutorial, a Market Research site, and a limited Trade Library. Most of the free trade statistics have been removed from this site.
The Government Information Sharing Project of Oregon State University, maintains a useful Databases site, including a USA Counties database, and a Subject Categories database. Trade, economic and a wide variety of other data included.
Foreign Trade Statistics of the U.S. Bureau of Census. Trade Statistics by Country, by limited (one and three digit SITC) product/commodity categories, along with current and Historical data. Some U.S. state data also.
Export.Gov U.S. government export portal, with an extensive Market Research site, and a new Export Statistics Express feature. Also provides an Export.Gov Import/Export Trade Statistics site, and an International Trade Administration Trade Data site, and Country Commercial Guides (free registration required), among other useful sites.
The Office of the United States Trade Representative maintains a variety of very useful Reports and Publications, including the annual National Trade Estimate Report on Foreign Trade Barriers.
United Nations Trade Analysis System (UN PC/TAS). International trade statistics by country and by product, for full SITC product commodity codes. Available ONLY via networked workstations in campus labs and offices! NOT available off campus, or to non-UNCG affiliates.
U.N. Trade Analysis And Information System (TRAINS) UNCTAD-TRAINS (TRade Analysis and INformation System) is a free, comprehensive trade data base, at the Harmonized System-based tariff line level, covering tariff, para-tariff and non-tariff measures, as well as import flows by origin for more than 100 countries. The searchable import data is provided at the six digit HS level.
COMTRADE provides product and country level trade statistics.
Handbook of International Economic Statistics. Annual U.S. government publication with a variety of tables covering most aspects of foreign economies, by countries, and by developing and regional and treaty groupings.
Office of Trade and Economic Analysis of the U.S. International Trade Administration. Foreign Trade Highlights, monthly trade statistics, State and Metropolitan area export trade data, U.S. Foreign Trade Data with two digit SITC commodity data covering the most recent two years, Industry Sector Data covering three and four digit SIC groups for a ten year run, among other resources.
The U.S. International Trade Commission Interactive Tariff and Trade DataWeb. Summary of U.S. trade by region, trade by partner countries, both import and export data, and tariff databases in which products can be accessed.
U.S. International Trade Administration has an excellent Trade and Economic Data site.
OTEXA The Office of the Secretary for "Textiles, Apparel and Consumer Goods Industries oversees programs and strategies to improve the domestic and international competitiveness of the U.S. fiber, textile, and apparel industries..." within the International Trade Administration, this site focuses on textile and apparel trade and production and has Current Import/Export Trade Statistics and country information.
Strategis is a Canadian government site which allows you to create customized reports on Canadian and US imports and exports with over 200 countries. Data can be presented as a graph ("run graph"), chart ("run report"), or spreadsheet ("save data to file" -- look for this icon under the graph or chart). To get 2-5 level HS codes, use the "browse list" option for the Product Search. The data is from Statistics Canada and the U.S. Census.
Commodity Classification Codes
Foreign Trade Classification Schedules - Harmonized Tariff System classification schedule B, C and D codes, as well as NAICS (six digit), SIC (four digit), and SITC (five digit) codes. Complete lists of the ten digit Harmonized Export and Import codes.
Harmonized Tariff System (HTS) from the U.S. International Trade Commission. Complete, current copy of HTS will be found HERE. There is also an Export/Schedule B version of the HTS available from the Census Bureau.
NAICS - North American Industry Classification System, with a Bridge between NAICS and SIC, a Searchable NAICS.
Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Codes - "allows the user to search the 1987 version SIC manual by keyword, to access descriptive information for a specified 4-digit SIC, and to examine the manual structure." Maintained by OSHA.
Standard International Trade Classification (SITC) Codes and alternate UN SITC site - a browse or search the complete listing of all Standard Industrial Trade Classification (SITC) codes.
Tariffs And Trade Barriers
Foreign Trade Barriers - from the 2000 National Trade Estimate Report, broken down by country or by trade group, such as the European Union. A product of the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), which is best accessed via their Site Map.
Trade Information Index, from the International Trade Center (ITC) of the U.N. UNCTAD/WTO, maintains an excellent Tariffs And Non-Tariff Barriers resource, accessible by country, and also the country-specific Index To Trade Information Sources. Most of these links will actually take you to the Trade Barriers Database, a service of the Market Access Database, which, in turn, is a service of the Directorate-General for Trade of the European Commission (DG/EC Sitemap).
