Biographical Note

Mary Elizabeth Partridge of Mt. Airy, North Carolina, was born on 24 November 1912. She attended the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina (now UNCG) and graduated in 1935 with a bachelor of science degree in physical education. Following graduation, Partridge was employed as a physical education teacher in Durham, North Carolina.

Partridge joined the American Red Cross (ARC) in 1943. During her career with the ARC, Partridge was stationed in Algeria, France, Italy, Germany, and Guam, as well as various locations in Texas and South Carolina.
