<head>Biographical or Historical Note</head>
<p>Maggie V. McPherson (b. 1909) is a graduate of Woman's College of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (now UNCG). During World War II, McPherson volunteered with the American Red Cross, which assigned her to various service clubs for U.S. military personnel. After the war, McPherson joined the Special Services to operate Army service clubs. From 1949 to 1951, she   directed Air Force service clubs in Guam and Japan. From 1951 through the mid-1970s, she served in the Recreation Center at Osan Air Base in Korea.

The McPherson Papers primarily contains printed materials, including newsletters, booklets, yearbooks, and clippings, especially from her time in Korea. It also contains three scrapbooks which document her Red Cross service in WWII, her duty in the Special Services from the late 1940s through the 1950s, and her tenure at the Double Five service club in Osan, Korea, in 1959 and 1960.
