Robie Mayhew Macauley (1919-1995) was a short story writer and editor, and a professor at Woman's College (now UNCG) from 1950 to 1953. The manuscripts in this collection are for The Disguises of Love and A Secret History of Time to Come.

Robie Mayhew Macauley (1919-1995) was educated at Kenyon College, Iowa State University and the University of London. During and after World War II he served as an agent for the Counter-Intelligence Corps in Europe and Japan. Some of the material for his short stories was based on his experience in intelligence work. Macauley taught at Bard College and the University of Iowa before coming to the Woman’s College (now UNCG) in 1950. In August 1953 he resigned from his teaching position to assume editorships at the Kenyon Review, Playboy, and Houghton, Mifflin.
The manuscripts are for The Disguises of Love and A Secret History of Time to Come. There are first and final drafts in typescript with corrections for The Disguises of Love and what appears to be a final version of A Secret History of Time to Come. There is also a galley and sketch and proof for the title page for The Disguises of Love.
