Acquisitions Information

Most of the posters have been in Jackson Library since the 1940s; they were rediscovered in the library basement by a library employee and transferred to University Archives in August 1998. Some posters were added at later dates.

Description of Collection

This collection of approximately 270 United States war-related posters includes mainly World War II posters, as well as some from World War I and a few from other periods.

The posters are arranged by subject and stored according to subject and size. Smaller posters are stored in the oversize map case. Larger posters are stored in a separate oversize area. If the artist is known, his or her name follows the poster title.
