Biographical Note

Heather Ross Miller was born in Albemarle, North Carolina in 1939. She received an undergraduate degree from Woman's College (now the University of North Carolina at Greensboro) in 1961 and an MFA in Creative Writing in 1969. She received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1968/69 and again in 1973/74. Inspired by the teaching of Randall Jarrell, Miller became an instructor in reading and writing.
