Biographical Note

George B. Tindall was a native of Greenville, South Carolina. He graduated from Furman University in 1942, received his doctoral degree in 1951 from the University of North Carolina, and taught at Eastern Kentucky State College and the University of Mississippi before joining the history faculty at Woman's College (now UNCG) from 1952 to 1954. He published a number of books on the history of the United States and the American South.

Collection Overview

This manuscript is the final typescript, with hand-written notations and corrections, of Tindall's book entitled South Carolina Negroes, 1877-1900 (University of South Carolina Press, 1952).
