Women Veterans Historical Project
Women at War Online Exhibit
Introduction
Welcome to the exhibit of the Women Veterans Historical Project (WVHP). Established at UNCG in 1998, the two main goals of the WVHP are:
- to document and recognize the contributions of women in the military, particularly those who served during WWII, but also those women who served in earlier and later times; and,
- to educate the general public on the contributions of these women.
The Women Veterans Historical Collection (WVHC), the primary component of the project, contains more than three hundred individual collections and more than two hundred oral histories. In addition to the oral history interviews, the WVHC includes diaries and letters, photographs, brochures, posters, books and other published material, and uniforms and other memorabilia.
This exhibit illustrates the scope and breath of the collection, including posters, photographs, manuscript documents, uniforms, and recruiting materials from World War I and World War II.
