May Queen Tiara

Date: ca. 1947

Material: Metal and rhinestone

Acquisition: Unknown

Description: Crown worn by May Queens during the May Day pagents held on campus. While May Day celebrations on campus date back to the turn of the century, this particular tiara was first worn by May Queens in the 1940's. Evidence of its use can be found in photographs held in the University Archives. The tiara was only used for a short period, however, as May Day celebrations at the Woman's College ceased in 1955.
