

Dr. Lee Kinard and Mr. John May were elected co-chairs of the UNC Greensboro Friends of the UNCG Libraries for 2002-2003 at the organization's annual meeting on February 21, 2002.
Lee Kinard is now Executive Assistant to the President of Guilford Technical Community College following a distinguished career in broadcasting. He holds BA, MA and EdD degrees from UNCG.
John May graduated from UNCG with a degree in English and is a longtime Friend of Jackson Library. He holds a Masters in Fine Arts degree from Bennington College, Bennington VT and is managing partner of Bonaventure Co., a children's apparel manufacturing firm located in Greensboro.
Others elected to the Friends of the UNCG Libraries Board of Directors for three-year terms were Mr. Robert Selby Bateman, Mr. Charles Braley, Mrs. Goodie Braley, Mr. Ned Cline, Mrs. Diane Davis, Ms. Ann Fitzmaurice-Russ and Ms. Laura Shoemaker of Greensboro and Mr. Wilson Davis of Summerfield.
The Friends of the UNCG Libraries was founded in 1959 and has supported Jackson Library's growth and development since that time. In 2001, the Friends were instrumental in supporting the Library's acquisition of its one-millionth volume, a first edition of William Blake's Illustrations of the Book of Job.
