ASSIA: Applied Social Sciences Index and Abstracts
- Indexes approximately 650 journals in social work, psychology, sociology, political science, and health, including some peer-reviewed journals.
- Covers such topics as family studies, criminology, geriatrics, unemployment, immigration and race relations.
- Covers 1987 to the present.
- More info
- Provides the complete digitized text of about thirty sociology titles and another nine population studies journals
- Coverage begins with the first issue and does not include the last 3-5 years

- One of the largest of the full-text databases, Academic OneFile (InfoTrac) includes citations, abstracts and some full-text for over 9000 English-language general periodicals and scholarly journals dealing with all subject areas including education, psychology, sociology, social work, and family studies.

National Criminal Justice Reference Service Abstracts
- Provides summaries of Federal, state, and local government reports and transcripts, books, research reports, training materials, program descriptions, statistics, journal articles, audiovisual products, and unpublished research.
- Covers corrections, courts, drugs and crime, law enforcement, juvenile justice, crime statistics, hate crimes, school safety, ex-offender programs, domestic preparedness, and victims of crime.
- The NCJRS Virtual Library is a separate collection of over 7,000 full text publications from the web sites of the agencies of the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs and the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. This full text database must be searched separately from the main database.

- Full text titles offer additional viewpoints from those proffered by the mainstream press.
- Dates vary by title with most beginning full text coverage in the 1990s. A few date as far back as the 1960s.
- Over 180,000 bibliographic records and abstracts drawn from over 1,000 professional journals as well as books, popular literature, conference papers, and government reports. Includes research, policy and practice literature in the fields of family science, human ecology and human development.
- Considerable Australian material. Limited amount of these materials available in Jackson library.

- The citation databases contain the references cited by the authors of the journal articles they cover. You can use these cited references as search terms. A cited reference search enables you to use a published work that you know to find other, later works that cite it.
- In addition to cited reference searching, you can search these databases by topic, author, source title, and address.
