Collections and Technical Services

The Collections and Technical Services units (Collection Management, Acquisitions, Cataloging, and Preservation Services) at the University Libraries provide users with intellectual access to recorded human knowledge through careful selection, thorough evaluation, efficient acquisition, logical organization, and preservation. The Libraries' liaisons (professional librarians) and representatives (faculty members) are responsible for selection and evaluation of library resources that support the learning, teaching, and research mission of the University. The materials are purchased through the Libraries' Acquisitions Department. The Cataloging Department is responsible for organizing the purchased materials in accordance with national and international standards, and accommodating local searching needs as well. The Libraries' materials are preserved through in-house binding, commercial treatments, digitization, microfilming, and other media.

Collections and Technical Services' office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
