October, 2002 - News New issue of the Leaks! Well, it's been awhile since the last Leaks. We hope you enjoy this one. We've got some great news scoops, some wonderful vacation pictures, and a challenge to Guess the Mess!
Deans' List Christopher Evans (son of April Wreath and Jim Evans) made the Dean's List at UNC Charlotte last May. Chris is a junior majoring in geography with a concentration in GIS (geographic information systems) and cartography. He was invited to join the National Geography Honor Society this fall, and also won the Fall 2002 UNC-Charlotte intramural championship tournament in billiards! Pins and needles, needles and pins... Susan Gerritsen has started a four-year program in acupuncture at Jung Tao School in Sugar Grove, NC (near Boone). You are hereby warned that she will constantly be asking if she can take your pulse for the next few years... Election time Jackie Gaither would like to thank everyone that voted for her aunt, Nancy Routh, for the Board of Education at large seat. Routh is a UNCG alumna (1986) and spent 18 of her 30 years in education as a school principal. On a related note: don't forget to vote! Valedictorian Sarah Zaruba was one of four valedictorians of Southeast Guilford High School Class of 2002. She is attending Furman University in Greenville, SC, leaving parents Cindy and Richard to shower all their attention on Emily Z. (7th grader who doesn't really want it) and Chelsea the cat (age 8) who will take all she can get!
Coming to the web... Covenant Fellowship has proposed funding and setting-up a web page, now in process, to promote Edward Waters and his writing. When complete, it is expected to feature selected texts of his work and include an informal audio-recording of seven songs done in a local studio this past summer. Edward has been an itinerant singer-songwriter since the early 1970s and released an earlier recording in 1987 entitled 'The Thing That Matters'. He also currently publishes a semiannual news-and-views letter called 'Stirrings of the Greywind'. |
